Mandalay, the last royal capital of Myanmar Kingdom was founded in 1857 by King Mindon and became royal capital in 1861. Mandalay is also the second capital of Myanmar as well as the second gateway to travel by Air to Myanmar. Being rich with cultural heritage, you can still see considerable cultural and religious significant places in the city of Mandalay. It is famous for its traditional artifact and handicrafts. The legend says that Lord Buddha had made a prophecy during his visit on the Mandalay Hill that a great city could be founded at the foot of the hill. Kuthodaw Pagoda with 729 marble inscriptions of three baskets of Buddha Pali cannon, often called “the world’s Biggest Book” built by King Mindon in 1848 is one of the highlight you should not miss.

This vast lake is located in the heart of Shan State which shares borders with Thai & Laos. And it climbs up to over 900 metres above sea level and outrageously beautiful. Inle Lake is located in the mountains so it is cooler than other areas. More than 30 hill tribes are living in the mountains.

The lake, 22 km long and 10 km across, has a population of some 150,000, many of whom live on floating islands of vegetation. Inle Lake, natural and unpolluted, is famous for its scenic beauty and the unique leg-rowing of the Inthas, the native lake dwellers.

An ancient 15th century capital of the Kingdom of Rakhine for 355 years. was founded by Rakhine King Min Saw Mun in 1430A.D.. Mrauk U is known and become growing destination for its old temples and wall paintings of Indian influence. The stone pagodas in Mrauk U were built three ad four centuries ago.Mahamuni Shrine, Shittaung Pagoda, Dukka Thein Pagoda, Wai-tha-li Ancient City and Mrauk U Palace are some of the interesting places to visit.

Once visiting Myanmar, one should see the mystical Kyaikhtiyo Pagoda – a stupa standing on a gold glided boulder, delicately perched on the edge of a cliff at the top of hill over 1100 m above sea-level. It is about 20 km from the small town of Kyaikho which is about 160 km away from Capital Yangon.

The main tourist destination in Myanmar is Bagan, capital of the first Myanmar Empire; one of the richest archaeological sites in South-east Asia. Situated on the eastern bank of the Ayeyawaddy River. The Magic of Bagan has inspired visitors to Myanmar for nearly 1000 years. Bagan covers an area of 42sq.km containing over 2000 well-preserved pagodas and temples of the 11th-13th century.

Myanmar is a union of 135 ethnic groups with their own languages and dialects. The major races are the Kachin, the Kayah, the Kayin, the Chin, the Mon, the Bamar, the Rakhine, and the Shan. The name Myanmar embraces all the ethnic groups.

Yangon, the Capital of Myanmar, with over five million inhabitants, is a main gateway to travel by Air or by Sea for the tourists. King Alaung Paya, Conqueror of the Third Myanmar Empire gave the name of the city from Dagon to Yangon which means “end of strife” after he conquered lower Myanmar in 1755. It is also known as the Garden city of the East with full of trees and shades, parks and lakes. Yangon is famous for having Shwedagon Pagoda-one of the world famous golden Stupa and lots of other interesting temples, Buddha images, Parks and Colonial style buildings in the city centre left over from British Time.
